Breakfast with the Bunny

One of the things that I do working at the Tulsa Zoo is organize events. Mostly private events like weddings, company picnics, proms, etc, but a few times throughout the year my team puts together a ticketed event, such as Breakfast with the Bunny. This was the second year for the event and we ended up selling out the first session three weeks early and added a second session, which also ended up selling out!

A large part of this event revolves around photos with the Easter Bunny. This year we opted for a garden theme, including life size carrots, a windmill, and a real garden. Nicolas and I worked all week to build the windmill, Karen and I created the life size carrots, and with the help of our horticulture department, we successfully created a real garden for the display. It was a lot of work, but I was very pleased with the end result. I love a good challenge, and this display certainly had its challenges to work through. :)

To facilitate seating, we pre-assign tables for the guests. I always enjoy creating something cute that correlates with the theme of the event. I opted for round table number markers pulling the green and orange from the garden theme and adding little punch art bunnies. The bunnies are made from a few retired Stampin' Up! punches, but you could certainly substitute for something comparable. For these I used a small oval, small circle, and a flower petal for the ears.

Overall, it was a great day and we had an awesome turn out. The guests seemed to enjoy it and I'm so proud of my team for putting together an awesome event for zoo guests!

Elsa Punch Art

One of my friends adopted a little girl from China a while back. I've been following their journey on their private Facebook page throughout the process and have really enjoyed getting to know Lydia through the things that they have shared. I've never met this sweet little girl, but she has touched my life greatly (and so many others scattered around the globe). She has the sweetest smile and the transformation she's made from the first day she was adopted to now is truly remarkable. She turns 4 next week, and her mom posted recently that Lydia enjoys receiving mail. So of course I wanted to send her a homemade Birthday card. Lydia loves Elsa (from Frozen-duh) so I knew immediately that I wanted to create a punch art Elsa card for her. I hope Lydia enjoys this Birthday card as much as I enjoyed making it for her and have enjoyed getting to know her over the time she's been a part of the Moore family.

Most of the punch stuff was free-handed or used retired punches, but you could find comparable current punches I'm sure.

Happy Easter

Looking at my small oval punch, I thought about how it would make the perfect Easter egg, so I quickly threw together a coordinating Easter basket using the 2-1/2" circle punch and some scraps for the basket weave.

The bunny was inspired by Mary Fish's sweet baby bunny, but I adjusted the punches to make mine a little bigger than hers.

Name Banners

One of my friends had seen the banner that I made for my sister's baby shower and asked if I would make one for her to put in her locker at school. I asked her to give a few ideas of what she had in mind, and all she said was zebra and purple, so this is the name banner that I made for her.

To create the zebra print, I used black card stock and an Exacto knife, then assembled the pieces on white card stock.




After a few months, she asked me if I would create another name banner for her friend's birthday. This time she told me pink and monkeys. This is what her friend Rebecca received.

Christmas Kanga

This past December, I was having a conversation about ugly Christmas sweaters, and my friend made the statement that the best ugly Christmas sweaters are the ones where the reindeer actually looks like a kangaroo. This really cracked me up and it stayed with me. So I thought it would be fun to make a Christmas card for my friend of an ugly Christmas sweater with a big kangaroo on the front. So that's what I did!

I made the sweater using the Pillow Box die as the starting point. I altered it some with my scissors and added sleeves, then ran the "sweater" through the Big Shot using diamond designed Texturz Plate to add some sweater looking texture to the sweater.

For the Roo, I used this little guy for my inspiration/starting point and added a little Christmas Santa hat to finish him off!

Hello Friend

A second project that we created at my recent punch art class was a card featuring a punch art girl. We used the Greenhouse Gala DSP for her dress and the color scheme of the card.

Froggy Bookmark

I recently held a punch art class, and this is one of the projects that were made. The frog was pretty simple and inspiration came from quite a few frogs that I've seen over the web.

Punch Fish

Well, when it rains at my house, it pours. First we had all the snow, etc. Then, I came down with a sinus infection and fever that lingered for a week or so, so I haven't had much time in my craft room. I still have some of the cough lingering, but at least the fever is gone. However, part of the joys of sharing your house with someone is that you share everything else with them too, including your illnesses. Now hubby is sick with fever/sinus infection. Boo.

I made this card a few weeks ago and realized I hadn't shared it with you yet, so I'm taking today to do just that. It is a CASE of a card that Marie Shaughnessy made, which I adored the moment I saw it. I've searched her blog for the original and can't find it. But it was definitely her card that I CASEd.

Punches used include: Oranament (fish), scallop border (fish), 5 petal (fish), two-step owl (branch for greenery), snowflake (coral), circles (for bubbles), and heart (for lips).

Christmas Card Marathon Pt. 2

This is the second Christmas card that I made in my Christmas card marathon. This is a CASE of a card I saw on the display boards at convention. There was no name attached to it, so I'm not sure who the credit belongs to, but it caught my eye--I loved it!

Vacation Bound to Hawaii

Hi Friends! I left on vacation for Hawaii yesterday, and even though I'm probably sipping on a fruity drink sitting on the beach catching some sun rays (I posted this before I left), I still have projects posts planned for you this week, so be sure to keep coming back while I'm away...

In honor of my beachy destination, I created this card. It is a CASE of this one, but I changed a couple of minor things like her swimsuit. I didn't do the "fork bow" and I used the Soft Suede polka-dot ribbon because that's how my suit is in real life: brown with white polka-dots. :)

When I first started this card I was determined to create a punch man on the beach--after all, dear husband will be beaching with me on vacation, but the end result just made me laugh out loud, so I didn't include him on my card. But for your laughing pleasure, I have included him on this post so you can giggle right along with me.

Strawberry Shortcake

I always try to challenge myself creatively, but this one took the cake. I received an invite to one of my friend's daughter's birthday party. It had a cute Strawberry Shortcake on the front of the invite and I thought, "Hmm, I could make a punch art Strawberry Shortcake, no problem, and put her on a birthday card."

Yikes. It kicked my tail, but here is the result. You probably wouldn't know who she was if I hadn't said, but that's okay. At least I tried, right? :)

Hello Kitty

A friend of mine requested a birthday card for her 6 year old who loves Hello Kitty and the color purple. This is what I came up with. :) I used the wide oval punch for her face and the 5 petal punch for her ears.

Golf punch art

My brother-in-law's birthday was a few weeks ago and I forgot to share with you the card that I made for him. My sister told me that he was really wanting a certificate to play some golf, so I made this card and included some cash for him to buy a round. This card is a CASE of this one-it was too perfect to tweak, so I left it exactly as she made it. :)
